Currently, NMT recommends using the following combinations of anti-spyware and anti-virus programs:

• Norton Anti-Virus 2007 and Microsoft Defender - If you are running Vista (all versions), Windows XP Home or Professional, this is the best combination to protect your computer. We also recommend using Windows firewall (included in Service Pack 2 for Windows XP).



• AVG Anti-Virus Free - This product works well for most home users. They do provide updates, but Norton currently is faster at providing timely updates for new viruses. download link



• Ad-Aware 2007 Free - This is a free download product that works well. It is limited by the fact it does not run interactively (real-time). It requires you to run the program. This means a spyware program can get on your machine and not get cleaned off until you run the program. They do have a "Plus" version that runs real-time. Please note: This is a non commercial product and is for personal home use only. NMT recommends using the plus version. download link
